Master Green began studying martial arts in 1999. He is a testament to the fact you can begin training in the martial arts as a mature adult. He began instructing after earning his 1st degree black belt in 2004 Dan #17110. He is an advocate of learning by doing, and takes this approach to teaching new students. The mantra, "You reap what you sow" holds very true for studying the Korean art form of Tang Soo Do. If you immerse yourself in the art as a way of life it will yield significant dividends for you in other aspects of life. Master Green loves the tradition of Tang Soo Do, and this is quite evident in his teaching of new students. He enjoys mentoring and teaching young students because it provides him with the opportunity to share the rich life lessons and the passion which was graciously shared with him during the very early years of his training. It is very rewarding to see a young practitioner matriculate to the rank of 1st Dan after witnessing their growth and maturity during their very formative years of training.
A native New Yorker from the beloved borough of Brooklyn, he used the martial arts as a means to build up an extended family in South Eastern Michigan. Master Green earned his 4th degree black belt in 2010 and believes that Tang Soo Do is not only an art but also a way of life. He chronicles his martial arts journey through a blog entitled, "AG's Blog" which he launched in 2003. In addition to martial arts training, Master Green is also a self-proclaimed computer geek and hacktivist. He is also an Open Source and Free Software evangelist. In his spare time, Master Green manages the Michigan Academy of Martial Arts club website. Master Green is a proud and decorated United States Navy veteran who served in both Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Academically, he obtained a baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering and continued his engineering education with graduate studies in Product Development.
